Devotions for a Busy Business Person, no. 240 – Roped together on the rock of Christ
There are times when being an entrepreneur can be lonely.
“The buck stops here“ popularized by U.S. President Harry S. Truman.
As a business owner, the final decision often rests with you. But while responsibility may end there, that’s not how wise decisions are made.
“We are roped together on rock on Christ,” Marilea
Marilea, one of the most admired and awarded managers in our local government, has a remarkable gift for building strong teams. She gathers input from diverse voices, making well-informed choices—while never forgetting that the final call is hers alone.
At a Twelfth Night party last evening, I had a fascinating conversation with our neighbor, Lilly. At just 29, she had been promoted to manager in her organization. As I listened to her, I began to understand why she had advanced so quickly. She invests deeply in her team.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
When I look back at the businesses I had the privilege to lead and to serve, the tapestry of success was interwoven with the thread of commitment of management to their team. A team roped together in faith, purpose, and vision will reach the mountaintop.
Prayer
Rock of Christ, thank you for the team you have given me as we ascend to your heights.
Amen
