Devotions for a Busy Business Person, no. 258 – Haven
Have you ever thought of your business as the safest place in the day for some of your employees?
““Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven.” Psalm 107:28–30
I was hosting a panel discussion for the BAM Global Summit 2025 on the integration of the four bottom lines – social, spiritual, environmental and economic – in redemptive businesses like yours. I spoke with Bob Vryhof, Juliet Kaslita, and Dorothy Douglas Taft. These three business practitioners made many great points. One of them made me catch my breath. Juliet said and Dorothy showed that a business can be a place of solace, the safest place that person has in their day.
Your business is a haven.
On two separate occasions, employees have shared that the business Terri and I ran was the shelter and stability they needed from brokenness they experienced elsewhere in their lives.
Jesus is your partner. May your staff will feel safe in His Presence and in the stable, loving, organisation you have built.
Prayer
God, help me build a haven of love and safety through Your and my business.
Amen
