Devotions for a Busy Business Person, no. 254 – An embarrassment of hope

Right now, The (Re)Generation Initiative we run is flourishing. We believe that just as the land can be scarred and depleted, so too can the human heart. Our calling is to see both restored—through the power of God’s love, through wise stewardship, and through community that reflects His kingdom on earth. And now, people are giving of their time and resources, making this goal a reality. Barren hearts and barren lands are being restored.

“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:12,13

So, what do we all do when things are going well? Here are some ideas. (1) Prayer: Last Sunday, we went into the prayer room and prayed with the prayer team a prayer of thanksgiving and praise to God. No petition, no supplication, just praise and thanks. (2) Celebration: We also hope to celebrate with those that made this journey possible. They have been God’s hands and feet. (3) Stay humble: It is not an ‘I did it’ moment, it is a ‘To God be the Glory moment’. (4) Stay accountable: We have two accountability groups looking over us and their role is even more important now so that we remain focussed on mission and to keep pride from taking root.

Take joy in this moment of abundance, dear ones. Savour it. Then… get back to the work. 

Prayer

God, thank you for moments of abundance and moments of discipline.
