Devotions for a Busy Business Person, no. 243 – Beauty
One of the great joys of being a pilgrim businessperson is that you can have an eternal perspective. Even as a diligent steward who monitors every quarter, as a God-fearer, you have the assurance that you are building something beautiful for eternity.
“In every experience of beauty, we are being prepared for eternity.” Martin Shaw
It is a double reward; you and your business are being conformed to and by Beauty. I met with a client last week, and she reached out by email afterwards. “I truly admire your ability to connect and engage in a conversation. I found great learning in simply chatting with you.” Prayerfully she is seeing Christ within me as I am slowly being transformed into his Image.
And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
In business, you are creating something beautiful. Your business is like a sculpture, slowly taking shape under your hands with the Master looking on and often placing His hands alongside ours on the clay. That is why knowing your long-term goal(s) is essential. You want to work toward an end beauty, even as you accommodate changes as the clay shifts and reshapes.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11
Prayer
Holy Sculptor, guide my hands to build something beautiful.
Amen
