Devotions for a Busy Business Person, no. 229 – You are not alone

There are times, sitting in your office, when you might feel very alone. You may feel you are the only one in your area trying to run an ethical business to the glory of God and for social and environmental good. 

“I have seven thousand people left in Israel who have never bowed down before Baal and whose mouths have never kissed his idol.” 1 Kings 19:18

I just got back from Korea, where among other things, I had deep, profound, conversations with over 30 people from 21 countries who work at the intersection of their business and the gospel, just like you. In addition, the mailing list for this devotional covers 15 time zones.

You are not alone. 

And thank you, thank you for persevering. The return on investment in a God-honouring business is often not immediately apparent. You might not see some of that return till you reach heaven and meet the saints you have helped through speaking of Jesus with your hands and your heart, and providing the dignity of work to your employees and co-workers.

Prayer

God, may you place me in the path of those that honour you with your hands, and so strengthened by their company, may I reach out to those who do not know You yet.
