Devotions for a Busy Business Person, no. 196 – Joy

“ Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” Philippians 4:4

Yesterday, I had the privilege to speak at The King’s University BAM (Business as Mission) Bootcamp. I learned a lot from the other speakers and students. Today I would like to focus on what I observed in two business leaders: Chris Ferland of Good News Auto and John Leder of Supreme Steel

They both had such Joy.

Don’t get me wrong. They articulated there business challenges really well. They both have gone through ups and downs in their respective businesses. And yet they exuded such infectious joy which they attributed to their knowledge of God.

Business is hard. You can do hard. Business is joy as well. You can do joy. It does come from a knowledge that God is with you. In addition, it comes from those moments where you stop to appreciate the jobs you create and the beauty of the service or product you provide. You are a co-creator with God, helping creation flourish.

Prayer

Hi, God. Thanks for the Joy.

Amen
