Devotions for a Busy Business Person, no. 304 – God of the small things

I’ve always admired my colleagues who give careful attention to detail.

So does God.

“For who has despised the day of small things?” — Zechariah 4:10

In my work, I am often tasked with maintaining the vision and building the superstructure of an organisation. But all my grand visions would be mere vapour without the specific, faithful work my colleagues do each day, building on the foundation.

God is not only the God of the grand vision. He is also the God of the small things.

“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God.” — Luke 12:6

If God notices sparrows, He certainly notices the small acts of obedience that so often go unseen by others.

“Whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water… will by no means lose his reward.” — Matthew 10:42

In business, we are often drawn to scale, impact, and visible success. But the Kingdom of God often grows differently. We see God’s hand in  ReGen.Global where great transformations start with small (actual) seeds, small acts of kindness, and small conversations about the meaning of life.

“Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much.” — Luke 16:10

Jesus reminds us that God watches how we handle small responsibilities. Character is formed not in the grand moments, but in the ordinary ones: the small decisions, the honest transaction, the quiet act of integrity when no one is watching.

Do not despise the small things in your business or your calling. They are the very places where God is at work. And often, they are the seeds from which He grows something far greater than we could imagine.

Prayer

Lord of all creation,
You who see the sparrow and number the hairs on our heads,
teach us to value the small things as You do.

Give us faithfulness in the ordinary,
integrity in the unnoticed,
and patience in the slow work of growth.

Help us not to despise small beginnings,
but to trust that You are at work in every detail,Amen
