Hands  – Devotions for a Busy Business Person, no. 225

Greetings from Korea, where I am in awe of God’s provision and plans.

Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your hands?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”

I had the great good fortune of lecturing yesterday at Soong Sil University, established in 1897, not long after the first missionaries arrived in this land. I was intrigued to find out how they built hospitals and schools first before preaching the gospel. They were banned from proselytizing, but not from helping people. Action came before words.

Now over 27% of this nation is Christian.

I brought forward the following observation/challenge to my audience.

With this country’s passion for mission combined with your business acumen, I believe God has a special calling for you. He has given you great gifts to help you share the Gospel.

I challenge you in a similar way. While the gifts given you might be different than the ones our Korean brothers and sister have, God has placed in your hands talents and experience. He has also made provision for your idea at the beginning of the universe. He knew what you needed now way back then.

Would you please stop and  think about the unique combination of talents, experience and provision you have that can be used to share Jesus love and make this world a better place?

Prayer

God, you have formed me to do your Will. I can’t wait to get started.

Amen
